Owen Phillips

Development Manager

Business Development Team

I am the Development Manager for the Community Foundation for Lancashire and my is to raise the
profile of the Foundation within the business community. I am the initial point
of contact identifying and cultivating leads with potential new donors to support our work.

I am passionate about seeing people thrive in their communities and supporting organisations which
help this goal. In previous roles I have worked as a Probation Officer in the role of Treatment Manager of HMP
Lancaster, then HMP Wymott before founding my own company, Ribcaged. Ribcaged is a registered
charity and community organisation designed to support people to use arts to increase confidence
and to help to become more creative.

Whilst at Ribcaged I developed a national awarding project ‘Debt’ teaching young people about the
perils of financial mismanagement. I also helped to bring together a consortium of charities to apply
for a new community building within Clitheroe and have also worked freelance to support and
develop community organisations to achieve funding and strategic planning.

I have a BA Hons. degree in Social and Cultural Studies with Film Studies from the University of
Nottingham. I am also studying for a Chartered Management Institute Diploma in Management &
Leadership.

In 2017 I won the ‘Innovator of the Year’ award at the Lancashire Business View, Sub36 awards and
was a finalist for ‘Young Lancastrian of the Year’ award. I am also the current President of Clitheroe
Chamber of Trade and Commerce.

Outside of work I love the arts, (especially theatre, film and music), Rugby and food! I have been
known to sing Frank Sinatra songs on karaoke but to date have mysteriously never been offered a
record deal!
