The event provided an opportunity to share insights and reflect on the collective impact made in the community over the past year.
The Community Foundation for Lancashire
The Community Foundation for Lancashire helps individuals and organisations give to causes that matter to them by providing a strategic approach to charitable giving. Combined with our insight into community needs, this ensures that together we achieve maximum impact, reaching those who need it most.
Over the past twelve months, the Community Foundation for Lancashire has funded 95 community projects totalling over £600,000 benefitting more than 40,000 people across Lancashire.
The members of Lancashire Investors in Community (LIiC) have played a vital role in this achievement. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of community engagement for local businesses.
Lancashire Investors in Community (LIiC)
Lancashire Investors in Community (LIiC) is a business-led membership initiative launched in September 2021 by the Community Foundation for Lancashire (CFL), in partnership with then High Sheriff of Lancashire, Edwin Booth CBE DL. It was created to bring together socially responsible businesses across the region to support the work of Community Foundation and therefore support grassroots community groups through sustained charitable investment.
A glimpse into projects that matter
The event also welcomed Lucy Hamlin and Samantha Nott from Spring Into Action, a community group based in Accrington that creates opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autistic adults to play meaningful, active roles in society.
One of their key initiatives is the ‘Strong Women Project’, which empowers women with learning disabilities, helping them understand that they have the same rights to expression and safety as any other woman in society.
The project recently received funding from the Community Foundation’s Lancashire Women’s Fund, enabling them to continue supporting women throughout the county.
Looking ahead
Throughout the year, the Lancashire Investors in Community members have the opportunity to network with each other as well as visit community groups and projects that have been supported by Community Foundation for Lancashire. These events and ‘Seeing is Believing’ visits offer a first-hand perspective on how vital business support is to the sustainability and success of these local initiatives and the work of the Community Foundation.
We extend our sincere thanks to all the businesses that attended the event and continue to support the Community Foundation for Lancashire.
