300,000 food parcels. That’s how many Trussell Trust food banks handed out across the North West last year alone, 22% more than in 2019!

Our food banks are supporting people from all walks of life, including working households facing a genuine shortfall between income and the cost of getting by.

Today marks National Food Bank Day, a chance to recognise the vital role food banks and community food projects play in supporting people across the UK.

At Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside, we work with donors who want to help fight food poverty in their local areas. Together, we’ve awarded over £955,000 to projects tackling food poverty across Lancashire and Merseyside.

Unfortunately, in the face of the cost-of-living crisis more people are forced to turn to their local community groups to access basic human needs. Thank you to the charities, volunteers, community groups, and our donors who work tirelessly to ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
