Seeing is Believing: Your Support Matters
Lancashire Investors in Community members recently benefited from a visit to the Lower House Sensory Farm, who access funding through the Community Foundation for Lancashire.
Based outside Wray village near Lancaster, Lower House Sensory Farm CIC is a dementia-friendly space which provides smallholding-based outdoor activities to adults and children of all ages who need care and support. Their focus is on mental health, specifically for people living with dementia, adults and children with a learning and/or physical disability, Army veterans, and community groups and organisations who need support.
Sessions are created around bespoke activities, ranging from gardening to wildlife observing to animal husbandry, and are focused on getting people of all ages outside in the fresh air, embarking on new experiences, and feeling they are part of something exciting whilst broadening their skills.
Rachael Dagger, ESG Manager, MHA Moore and Smalley, commented,
“MHA Moore and Smalley are founding investors of Lancashire Investors in Community. Lower house Sensory Farm is a fantastic project, run by volunteers Rebecca and Denise, who provide a safe, inclusive, natural space for those living with dementia and for children and adults with additional needs to experience farm life.
“Hearing the stories of the positive impact the activities have on those individuals and their carers was truly inspirational and goes beyond the black and white we see in grant applications; funding from businesses as part of their ESG strategy impacts real people, in real life.”
With founding investor and Ambassador, Edwin Booth CBE, DL, at its helm, Lancashire Investors in Community brings together local businesses who support the work of the Community Foundation.
Tim Mitchell, Senior Development Manager, explains,
“As part of a collective effort, Lancashire Investors in Community support the Community Foundation to bring in new charitable funds and investment, ensuring we can work to make a positive impact on our communities and help the most vulnerable. Together, we can bring about greater change.”
