The BIBAs Foundation

Background Information:

The BIBAs Foundation, managed by the Community Foundation for Lancashire has been created to develop an enterprising culture in the youth of Lancashire. The fund is made up of business and personal donations, prize draw money and net surplus from the Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBAs) which is owned and delivered by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce (NWLCC).  

 

What is the focus of the fund:

Projects should enable young people aged 16-24 to flourish, learn and develop skills or knowledge- particularly to encourage enterprise; continue or expand their work experience; build their capacity for the future. Projects that improve confidence levels which can help towards future employment and enterprise prospects can be considered also.

 

Who can apply:

 

How much is available:

Community groups can apply for up to £5,000 and individuals can apply for up to £2,000. 

The panel may offer contributions to projects depending on the number of applications received and oversubscription rate.  The total budget is approximately £18k.

 

Which areas are covered: Lancashire wide.

 

Additional Information: Annual salary costs are ineligible for this fund; however, sessional based costs can be considered.

 

Community Foundation for Lancashire supports the Real Living Wage, therefore, we would encourage applications which pay staff at the current Real Living Wage of £12 per hour as a minimum - What is it? | Living Wage Foundation

 

When can you apply:

The next closing date is 5pm on Monday 8th April 2024. The programme may close earlier if the fund is heavily oversubscribed.

You should expect to hear the outcome of your application by mid-June 2024.

Examples of Eligible Grant Items:

-       Developing skills and confidence through structured training and development programmes e.g. courses, workshops, and classes

-       Acquiring qualifications

-       Educational visits

-       Business start-up costs

-       Mentoring/Consultancy

 

Documents which need to be included with your application:

1. A copy of the group’s constitution, governing document or rules

2. A copy of the group’s latest annual accounts or income/expenditure document

3. A list of your current Trustees/Directors/Management Committee

4. A copy of a recent bank statement for your group

5. A copy of the group’s current Safeguarding Policy. All applicants must ensure that they hold relevant policies and procedures in place to undertake activities, such as Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and/or a health and safety policy, depending on proposed activity. If unsure about what you need, please contact the Community Foundation for help (details below).

NB: If you have received a grant from us in the last 12 months and have already submitted copies of the above documents, you do not need to send them in again. However, a bank statement is required with every application.

What happens next?

Completed applications are considered by Community Foundation staff to check eligibility. You may be contacted for more information after applying and a decision-making panel will make recommendations based on the fund’s criteria and the budget available.

You should expect to hear the outcome of your application by mid-June 2024.
