Charities and community groups across the Burnley area are being encouraged to apply to a new fund launching today (Saturday 4th August). The Christal Foundation is encouraging charities to apply for funding to bring their projects to life.
Managed by the Community Foundation for Lancashire, the Christal Foundation has been established as a permanent charitable endowment fund for the next three years as a minimum. Proceeds of the fund will be used to support local grassroots charities that work to improve the lives of people in Burnley.
Grants up to £3,000 are available and the fund can consider operational costs for projects and ideas and contributions towards core costs for project development/research. It is expected that recipients will be able to clearly demonstrate the results of the funding i.e. for test and learn, in order to determine whether the project can be developed further at the end of the grant or not.
Grants are available to fund:
Rae Brooke, the Chief Executive of the Community Foundation for Lancashire said: “Grassroots organisations have been hit particularly hard over the last few years due to the current economic climate, which has made it harder to secure funding; and yet these organisations are often the first and sometimes only point of support for individuals and communities trying to make a difference in their lives.”
“That is why we are proud to be launching the Christal Foundation to help support these local charities. Being set up as an endowment fund means that charities will be able to benefit from this fund for many years to come”
The first deadline for applications is Friday 28th September. For more information, or to apply visit www.lancsfoundation.org.uk/apply. First grants will be awarded in November 2018.
