New Chairman for Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside

The Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside is delighted to announce the appointment of David Wareing as Chairman.

David was appointed as Chairman, having been a Trustee with the Community Foundation for Merseyside since 2016.

David, now retired, spent 45 years at Hill Dickinson, as Managing Partner, and subsequently, Senior Partner. He established the Hill Dickinson Foundation, with the support of the Community Foundation for Merseyside, which provides support to community-based projects.

David commented, “Born in Southport, I welcomed the opportunity to get involved and lend my expertise and knowledge as a Trustee, and then Chairman. I always considered myself extremely fortunate in my career and was acutely aware that many members of the community did not have the chances or good fortune that I had enjoyed, and welcomed the opportunity to make a difference.”

David takes over from Arthur Roberts, who served as the Chair of the Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside for over ten years. Arthur was a founding Trustee of the Community Foundation for Lancashire, helping to establish the Foundation and forge the initial working relationship with the Community Foundation for Merseyside. As Chair he further developed the relationship with Merseyside, leading to the merger of the two Community Foundations, forming one new Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside in 2014.

Arthur’s career spanned over 30 years in the UK nuclear industry. During his career he held a number of senior posts at major nuclear sites across the North West of England and South West of Scotland.

Rae Brooke, CEO, Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside, commented, “The Board, and wider team, would like to thank Arthur for his unwavering dedication and support over the years. His contribution has been invaluable and has enabled us to make significant progress and set firm foundations in place to secure further growth across both regions.

“We are now delighted to welcome David, who we know as Chair will support us in the next phase of our growth and in achieving our ambition of increasing investment into the community and voluntary sectors across Merseyside and Lancashire.”
